looking for a new band to get into that has two great guitarists that compliment each other really well and can jam out together. kind of like listening to haynes/trucks when they play together.

Not really a new "band" for you, but you should check out various Phil and Friends lineups. Some great combos there. Jimmy H., Warren, D. Trucks, Jorma, etc. Definitely check out 4/15,16,17/99--Trey & Kimock. Doesn't get much better than that!!

There are a lot of obvious choices......Garcia/Weir, Allman/Betts, Haynes/Herring, Trey/Kimock, Trucks/Anybody, etc., etc. but I went and had my first viewing of Umphrey's McGee over the weekend and the two guitarists play off of each other as well as anyone I've heard in years.

I was listening to some old Charlie Daniels Band from the mid to late 1970's.....some fine guitar duals there. Not to change the subject but I can't believe what has happened to Charlie.

the black crowes are one hell of a guitar jam band. and last saturday night, rich robinson opened a tune with a 'hell in a bucket' riff (i think). those guys rock.

Ok so I'm going to do it... Tea Leaf Green

Yeah It's only one guitarist, but that's like saying I don't like phish because it's only trey. Seriously if you haven't heard Josh Clark, please do yourself a favor and download this show right now! Just saw them this weekend, blew me away how much they've improved in just two months. They are getting to be quite amazing. For all you that don't know about them, think Dead meets Zeppelin meets Allman Brothers, with their own style splashed in and you might be close.

Well if you're gonna say tea leaf green, then im gonn say raq. Chris Michetti is one of the fastest guitarist ive ever heard.

thats a great place to start. these guys sound a hell of a lot like phish (theyve got a lot of real trippy guitar/keyboard sections, though none are quite as long or complex as reba or yem, for example). i guess they could be described as sounding like phish with a little bit of particle in them. but regardless of who they sound like, theyre off the hook.

Try Bela Fleck and Tony Trischka. I know they are not guitar players, but you will not find a better banjo duo anywhere. If you really want guitar players try some original Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, and Danny Kirwin. Too bad you can't download any of it. Here is a couple more you could look for is Blazzing Telecasters with Danny Gatton and Tom Principato. Any of the 4 released albums by The Hellecasters with Will Ray, Jerry Donahue, and John Jorgenson. I know you will not be disapointed. Now one of my favorites is Passion, Grace, And Fire, or Friday Night In San Francisco with Al Di Meola, Paco De Lucia, and John Mclaughlin, it dosen't get any better then these three guitarists. I hope this helped. Good luck guitar hunting.

Steve Kimock Band with Mitch Stein. Pick a show recorded by Charlie Miller with on-stage mics.

Yeah!
They're hot, took me less than a minute to hear "Ain'tv The Same" thanks, I'll go back for more.
This little iBook I'm stuck with using til I get my SCSI tomorrow and can type on a real keyboard again - lot less typos, and less angry ish ranties...
but if this low memory tinker toy can get it, who couldn't...
other 2 guitar bands with a strong country kick - well, the first Moby Grape and their best hits essential...but I like the Railriders modern production better.

I feel like a broken record because I've already fluffed Mood Cultivation Project and Tishamingo in the slide guitar thread but I can't overemphasize how great both bands are and both bring the two guitar assault full force (except when George switches to the mando in MCP). Captain Soularcat too prior to Matt's departure to join Blueground Undergrass. The Codetalkers when Bobby Lee's not playing the banjo or a various assortment of other instruments. The aforementioned Umphrey's McGee and the Big Wu in the Fladgler era. Some local boys called Marcus and the Mantras (who don't sound local at all because half the band is originally from England) have really been impressing me of late. All of the aforementioned are on the archive. For a quick link to shows from all of them that I've taped go here
